We arrived by the beach – in all honestly at a bit of a desolate spot between Torcross and Beesands. But desolate beaches have their charm even if it is not the awe-inspiring beauty of the cliff and sandy cove scenery.
We decided to amble along to Beesands. Others were keen to see who could get somewhere quickest.
We could, of course, see around to Start Point.
We took a slightly inland path, past Beesands Ley. Just look at how red that field is – but still no sunshine.
From here, Start Point could be seen along with the local plant life. Aha! Cowslips!
A view across the ley. Beesands Ley teemed with bird life and as at Slapton Ley, the air was filled with early swallows.
I think that’s a tufted duck taking to the air.
Ley views.
An interesting tree across the ley.
That looks back towards Sunnydale and the hills towards Torcross.
Let’s look at some plants. We think this is Lady’s Smock.
But it was cowslips that really took the eye here.
Well, cowslips and gorse.
The car behind is parked right by the beach.
With one last look at the ley and the red field, it was time to get to Beesands.
