The weather improved a bit as we approached Loch Skipport. The world began to have colour as well as form.
At Loch Skipport, it was amazing just how much engineering had been done to blast a track to a harbour site. The folks of South Uist must have laboured heavily to get this.
Hmm! The weather may have improved but it was far from good.
This was Loch Skipport, now deserted and derelict but boats can be seen moored out in the sheltered loch.

Some Loch Skipport flora.
The weather was closing in again.
But the heather looked good.
A piece of tumble down wall was what remained of a barrier above a cliff.
The quay was certainly not in good order.
More heavy engineering was collapsing – a huge retaining wall.
More wall plants. They were lovely with sinuous fronds spreading over the boulders.
We returned to the car to go and see more of South Uist.
