We had time at Glenfinnan so took a look at the little museum in the waiting room.

I enjoyed a penalty for neglect sign.
There was a big railway snowplough in the yard. I wonder when they last had to use the likes of that.

One happy poser.
Two happy posers.

Whilst we are stopped at Glenfinnan, let me introduce our fellow passengers. A family of four having a bed and breakfast tour of Scotland sat across the corridor from us. I think they were from the London area and seemed to have been all over Scotland. Opposite us, and sharing our table were a couple of chaps who were not just there for the ride. One was keen on sailing and was joining a boat at Mallaig. Having realised there was a steam train he decided he had to use it. The other person had arrived at Fort William on the overnight sleeper train from London and really was using the Jacobite as convenient onward transport.

Glenfinnan has a good old signal box and I suspect the signal man was busy during our stay. The Jacobite is too long to fit in the platform so the passing train had to arrive and then our train had to be shunted forward to allow the up train to access the single track onward to Fort William. Then The Jacobite was reversed back into the platform.

There’s more to Glenfinnan than a railway. There are real mountains to enjoy.

Stunning stuff.

With our loco well out of the platform it was not possible to see the engine at the station. But the railwaymen will take your camera and do the honours for you. So this was my view.

And now some taken for me.

It was time to take our seats again for the journey on to Mallaig
