We had identified the village hall in Toberonochy and all seemed so quiet we checked our information. Was the flower show to be there? Had we mis-remembered? The answers were yes and no. We were in the right place and had remembered correctly and when we returned to the hall there were people about. In we went.
Our own show suffers because children are not got to enter so it was interesting to see what Luing youngsters could do. They had an animal made from vegetables class.
It looked to me as though the youngsters had enjoyed themselves.
The flower classes featured some superb dahlias.
Visitors from the south of England were clearly unexpected and were rather popular. Everyone wanted to talk to us. Why were we there and how did it compare with our show. Straightway one felt to be a respected part of the Luing community.
A speech was made.
The speaker was the very person who had put out the sign near our car that morning. At least he knew his sign had attracted us to be visitors.
An unusual feature of this show was that all exhibits were auctioned but we did not stay for this. Our car was fully laden and we had all of the fresh produce we could manage. It was an enjoyable time, though.
We extended our walk around the village – and I had to prove that we saw sunshine on Luing.
We wandered a little south, leaving the cottages behind.
We wandered over a slatey beach.
Gentle grassland – the grass was fairly rough – sloped down to the beach. There were blooms amongst the greenery.
The grass was a bit damp, but made for very easy walking land.
And so it was back over the stile, into lovely Toberonochy and the car.
