As we walked down, we passed one cyclist on the way up. He wasn’t English, but we exchanged a chat.
‘It’s steeper than I thought when I looked at the map,’ he gasped as he pushed his bike uphill. He took the opportunity to look at his map, which turned out to be an electronic device. I daresay such devices are ideal for the traveller for a small object can hold so much data.

We could now look back up past those interlocking spurs.

In places, the stream seemed dry for the water was beneath the boulders.

You can see that Sue was well wrapped up. Most of the time the valley was sheltered and not windy, but at times the wind found some way in and it was chilly.

Part of the valley has scree slopes and near here we had to cross a small stream that tumbled down a side valley and joined our one.

There’s Sue making it across with dry feet. Rog ponders on the next move.

We took a breather before more walking down – next time.
