With rain falling at Prawle Point we got in the car and drove to East Portlemouth and found a vantage point high above the Salcombe estuary, and on the opposite bank. It was still raining heavily but things looked to be improving so after a brief sit in the car we got out to enjoy the scene.

That’s the estuary, looking generally north towards Kingsbridge. It looks lovely and of course some blue sky would have made it perfect.

A creek, off the main line of the estuary, wrapped around Salcombe.

That’s Salcombe.

Views of Salcombe

We were taking a coast road back up the estuary on a road described as tidal. There was a risk we’d have to turn back – but we didn’t.

That’s our car at what might be a tidal point but the mud was firm enough to get off the road and take a little walk as the weather had now improved. And what is that black and white animal up the hill?

Could it be a belted Galloway cow? If so, I don’t think it’s a pure breed.

There was a wind-blown tree on the hill too.
But eyes turned to the water.

And also a couple of posing tourists.

And so, back to the tent for some food and relaxation – and knitting!
